Make prints text on its stdout as a side-effect of the expansion. The expansion of $(info) though is empty. You can think of it like @echo, but importantly it doesn't use the shell, so you don't have to worry about shell quoting rules. @true is there just to provide a command for the rule.

Sep 26, 2015 · Because when I run that and try the exact sequence you've said, it prints " n is 2 s1 is Hello s2 is" and doesn't give me time to enter "Hi" at all. Note that your sample output is on three lines as well, which your sample code wouldn't give. I suspect you haven't posted the actual code you're running.

May 18, 2010 · set -x or set -o xtrace expands variables and prints a little + sign before the line. set -v or set -o verbose does not expand the variables before printing. Use set +x and set +v to turn off the above settings. On the first line of the script, one can put #!/bin/sh -x (or -v) to have the same effect as set -x (or -v) later in the script.

It doesn't mean start printing from the beginning of this line.It's more like return the cursor to the beginning of the current line.
